SHARK ATTACK

Jessi and I decided to go for a walk along the Wailea beach walk today. We drove down to the Grand Wailea and discovered that the beach access road was cordoned off. We thought that maybe they were doing construction or something so we continued south to another beach access road. The parking lot was closed off so we gave up and headed back to Kihei. On the way we stopped at a beach access parking lot just south of us to check out the beach (we hadn't been there yet this time).
To our surprise we discovered a worker putting up the sign you see above. Apparently (and this just happened today so facts are somewhat sketchy) there was a shark attack near the Grand Wailea. What we've heard so far is that a guy was swimming somewhere between 100 feet and 400 yards out and he had his hand nibbled on by a twelve foot tiger shark. We were told that he made it to shore but he's missing a few digits.
To make matters worse for us, we walked down to the beach accross the road from us to discover that our very own Kamaole Beach Park III was closed for the same reason. Jessi and I are now a little nervous to reenter the water, even when they open the beach again. Here's a picture of our beach with the shark sighting sign (note that nobody is in the water!!!)...
